Hi my name is Arthur Miller and I am a author. I recently wrote the play The Crucible. When I wrote the play it was during the time period when Americans were being accused of being a communist. The government had read my play and thought that I was a communist. Many of my friends were also accused. We have our court date soon and I am really nervous. I know in my heart that I am not a communist but I am not the person to choose if I am innocent or not of being one. I will inform you of my results after my court day.

Dear Journal
When I found out that I was being accused of being a communist I grew very nervous. There were many consequences of being accused of being a communist. My whole career could end because no one would want to buy a play by someone who was a 'communist.' My most recent play The Crucible would never make me any money because it just came out. I am counting down the days to find out my fate. Every day I get more and more nervous. That day will pretty much decide whether I live or die.
-Arthur
Dear Journal,
I am passively refusing because I know who I am and what I believe in. When I go in front of everyone I plan on denying everything they accuse me of. They don't have proof on whether I am or am not a communist. I hope my method works because I really need to be proven innocent. If they don't believe me I know that I did all I could and they I was honest with myself. Tomorrow is the big day so I must go and think about what I should say in front of everyone.

Dear Journal,
This is will be my last journal entry. I just came back from court and I was convicted of contempt of Congress for not cooperating. They convicted me of this because I did not want to tell them about my friends. I was not going to tell them if my friends were communists or not. That is their buisness not mine. Even if they are, they are still my friends and I don't care what political party they are in. Everyone has their own opinion on how the government should be run. I personally think people should care whether people are communists or not because not everyone is going to agree with what the government is doing.
